Villa Arte

Villa Arte is situated in the small village of Curio, 15 minutes outside Lugano. The villa is the private residence of a gallery owner for contemporary and modern art. The gallery represents works of art of e.g. Anna Dosso, Max Papeschi, Davide Mancosu, Valentini Fosco and Michael Fischer. Such pieces can be admired in Villa Arte, as the villa itself is fully stocked with them. The special light effects due to the floor to ceiling window-doors and the spacious rooms present the works in a fantastic way. The villa, dating back to the 17th century, was recently completely renovated and modernised. Thanks to the ancient building stock the living spaces on the ground floor have vaulted ceilings. The doors in the house are antiques from Afghanistan, which have been elaborately refurbished. French doors in the large living room open to the pool deck, equipped with comfortable sunloungers and parasols. All rooms have a wonderful garden view. Two plastic sculptures of William Sweetlove are in the terraced garden next to the large dining table made of granite. Stairs lead to the garden suite with separate entrance. In the garden suite is a handmade bed of Mattia Bonetti. The modern kitchen meets highest standards and it is fully equipped. Three hours per day from Monday to Friday comes a cleaning lady. More service can be arranged upon prior notice and supplemental cost. Grocery stores, backeries and super markets are nearby and excellent restaurants can be found in Lugano.
