Cape Town - Winelands – Walker Bay – Garden Route – Kwandwe Private Game Reserve
Itinerary: Day 1 Arrival in Cape Town Takeover of the rental car and drive to the booked hotel. 2 nights with breakfast in Cape Town area, e.g. at the exclusive 5-star Boutique Hotel Twelve Apostels directly by the sea or at elegant Sea Five Boutique Hotel, which are both located in fashionable Camps Bay. Alternatively overnight stay in the heart of Cape Town's famous V&A Waterfront in the luxurious One&Only Resort.
Day 2 Magnificent Cape Town Cape Town with its spectacular location at the bottom of Table Mountain is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Ride up Table Mountain by cable car and enjoy gorgeous views. Discover the historic centre of Cape Town and taste one of the delicious fish dishes at the Waterfront.
Day 3 Winelands around Franschhoek/Stellenbosch/Paarl (about 60 km - ca. 1 h) 2 nights/breakfast in the Winelands, e.g. in the stylish and elegant farm hotel Babylonstoren or in an Executive Suite at Luxury Hotel Leeu Estate in Franschhoek, both featuring their own winery.
Day 4 Welcome to the Winelands Enjoy the day in the Winelands. The Winelands stretch in front of the magnificent scenery of the violet-blue mountains. They rank among the world's most important wine regions. In Franschhoek, the Hugenots planted the first grapevine. The close-by village of Stellenbosch with its Cape Dutch houses and picturesque setting is surrounded by a lush valley. Visit one of the winery and enjoy the culinary delights of the South African cuisine.
Day 5 Picturesque Walker Bay and penguins (190 km - ca. 3 h without stop) Today's journey leads you along the spectacular coastline to Walker Bay. Take a detour of the "Scenic Road" with stop in Bettys Bay and visit the penguin-colony. From a wooden footbridge you can have a close look at the clumsy penguins. 2 nights/fullboard at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve in Walker Bay, e.g. in a One Bedroom Luxury Suite at Grootbos Forest Lodge or Grootbos Garden Lodge .
Day 6 Home of the „Marine Big 5“ Grootbos is home to the „Marine Big 5“ - whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins. With its unmatched diversity of plants, Grootbos offers a unique Africa experience. From whale watching, diving with white sharks up to flower safaris in 4WDs and horseback rides - in all seasons of the year, there are various activities. By the way: Grootbos is one of the best places for land-based whale watching!
Day 7 Beautiful coastline of the Garden Route (450 km - ca. 5h) Welcome to Garden Route: the impressive coast is dotted with picturesque bays, excellent sandy beaches and indigenous rain forests. Several rivers wind through the green and lush coastline, finally flowing into the Indian Ocean. Explore the treasures of Garden Route natural paradise and experience a night amidst the treetops of an age-old indigenous forest in Tsitsikamma, e.g. at luxury Tsala Treetop Lodge. 2 nights/breakfast in the surrounding of Knysna / Plettenberg Bay
Day 8 Plettenberg Bay / Tsitsikamma Enjoy a day at the magnificent sandy beaches of the Indian Ocean, stroll along the elegant town of Plettenberg Bay or experience magical Tsitsikamma National Park with its ever-green forest and spectacular cliffs. A short hiking trails leads to the famous, 70 m long suspension bridge. Or take a short boat ride on Storms River - Plettenberg Bay and Tsitsikamma area offers a large variety of activites.
Day 9 Kwandwe Private Game Reserve (400 km - 4.5 h) Pass by Port Elizabeth and immerse into another fascinating world. The private, malaria-free Kwandwe Game Reserve is one of the most successful private conservation initiatives in Southern Africa, coupling responsible tourism, nature and luxury. 3 nights/fullboard in private Kwandwe Game Reserve, e.g. in Kwandwe Ecca Lodge
Day 10 and 11 Wildlife and the Big Five Experience the fascination of Africa, endless wilderness, moments of complete silence, incredible light, gorgeous animals and plants. Drive in open vehicles and spot the Big Five: Elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards and African buffalos. Once you come back to the lodge, enjoy a bath in the pool, a massage in you suite or let the impressions of the day pass while tasting a delicious meal.
Day 12 Flight back from Port Elizabeth (150 km - 2 h) Drive to the airport of Port Elizabeth, return the rental car and departure.
