Some thoughts about LUXURY

Some thoughts about LUXURY

How to define LUXRUY? With more than 30 years in the luxury travel industry, I could write plenty of articles to find an answer to this question. As an essence, I have come to the conclusion, that most people consider “personal well being”, “above the ordinary” and “something special for me” being luxurious. In this context I want to focus on one detail, that almost everyone esteems to be luxurious: TIME. There is a saying in Africa:” You (the western people) have expensive watches, but we have time”. Who, would you say, is the one better off? I presume, that Read more »

Small Cyclades Islands

Small Cyclades Islands

Koufonisi and Folegandros – the Small Cyclades dream pair, by Susanne Wess Farewell to the hustle and bustle is the first thing that springs to mind as we ferry across to these two small Greek islands in the Little Cyclades. Tranquillity, the vastness of the landscape and an untroubled stay between the heavens and the sea – that’s what awaits guests when they visit Koufonisi and Folegandros. A paradise away from the urban grind. Pano Koufonisi and Kato Koufonisi form the Koufonisi Islands. They belong to the easterly Small Cyclades and are separated by a mere 200-meter narrow strait. The stress Read more »

Verdi festival in Parma 2019

Our trip to the Verdi Festival in Parma in 2019 was a great success this year again. A small group of 10 people interested in culture met in the late afternoon of October 3rd at the Grand Hotel La Ville in the city centre of Parma and was welcomed by me with a Prosecco reception. Getting to know each other was exciting because the participants came from various countries. The first evening was dedicated to the opera, because after the aperitivo we took a short walk from the hotel to the Teatro Regio Parma and attended the opera NABUCCO in Read more »

PATMOS – A Paradise in the Aegean Sea

PATMOS – A Paradise in the Aegean Sea

After having been spending my holidays for over 20 years in Cyclades Islands like Paros, Tinos, Syros etc. – this year Patmos has attracted me for the second time. Patmos belongs to the island group of Dodecanese and is surrounded by many small, still very authentic islands such as Lipsi, Leros, Ikaria, Marathi and Arki. This attractive island Patmos is easy to reach via Samos or Kos as well as from Athens, for example, with the Blue Star Ferry Boat. Patmos offers dream beaches and the very interesting Chora, the Old City placed over a hill which beholds the renown Read more »

Exploring South Africa

Exploring South Africa

Finally I had the chance to improve my knowledge about the southern part of Africa. Namibia, Botswana and Simbabwe were very well known to me and for a long time I had been longing to travel to South Africa again. I flew to Cape Town via Zurich with a friend. We spoiled ourselves by preferring the comfort of BC, as our flight was over night and we wanted to rest and be fresh on our arrival. And so it was! Absolute right decision as we had a very comfortable flight and were ready to explore Cape Town when we landed. Read more »
