Kanaan Desert Retreatis fascinating. The landscape is a harmonious symbiosis of a charming endless landscape, which gradually merges into dunes and deserts towards the west and is bordered to the east by the picturesque mountain landscape of the Taurus Mountains. Various rivers meander through this landscape, which is flanked by trees. The play of colours of the mountains, the "steppe" landscape and the dunes enchants you from sunrise to sunset. Therefore we strongly recommend to take part in the "Sunrise Dune Drive" and the "Sunset Tiras Mountain Drive". These are just two of the different activities you can take part in during your stay. Naankuse Lodge is the headquarters of the Naankuse Foundation. Its goals are to support the San people in the region with a clinic and a school and to save endangered animal species in Namibia from extinction. At the lodge you will get to know a large number of endangered animal species of Nambia. These include cheetahs, jackals, caracals and hyenas, to name but a few. You will experience these and many others in the care station in the lodge as well as in the extensive area where the animals are released into the wild. You will also see the big wild ones such as elephants, rhinos, leopards and giraffes on the Gamesdrives.
Day 9 to 12: Flight from Windhoek (Namibia) to Maun (Botswana) via Johannesburg (South Africa) - Flyin Safari Okawango Delta (Botswana) After a short drive from the lodge to the airport you fly at 06:30 in the morning via Johannesburg to Maun in Botswana (Flights extra depending on availability and booking class). Arrival in Maun around 14:00. From Maun your FlyIn Safari starts in the Okawango Delta.
With a small aircraft you will be flown from Maun to the exclusive 5***** Sanctury Baines Camp. Pay attention to the luggage limit: 20 kg in softbag.

This 5 star lodge is an ideal starting point to experience the "Big Five" in the Okawango Delta as well as many other animals in the lush landscape of the delta. The delta is mostly protected in terms of nature so you have the possibility to discover the "real" Africa. This fertile delta stands in attractive contrast to the desert landscape in the south of Namibia. The game drives are undertaken both on land and on water, depending on the seasonal possibilities for trips on the water. One of the highlights is also the cooperation of the lodge with the "Living with Elephants Foundation".
