Experience the Namib on a privately guided safari. On this 7-day desert and dune tour you will visit the spectacular Naukluft Mountains, Sossusvlei and the highest sand dunes in the world, the vegetation-free "Moonlandscape", the wild beauty of the Skeleton Coast and the surreal landscape of the Erongo Mountains. The Namib Desert covers the entire Namibian coastline of over 1500 km and stretches up to 200 km inland. It is one of the oldest deserts in the world and has an amazing diversity of landscapes and habitats.
Itinerary: Day 1 and 2 - Skeleton Coast: Windhoek - Swakopmund 390km (travel time approx. 4 to 5 hours). On arrival in Windhoek you will be met by your driver and guide who will accompany you on your journey for the next few days. If time permits, you will undertake a city tour of Windhoek. Then drive from Windhoek to Swakopmund, where you will spend the first two nights. The Namibian coast is commonly known as the Skeleton Coast because of its arid landscape, shipwrecks and whale skeletons that used to lie on the beach in earlier times. A full day is set aside for this beautiful area, which also offers a variety of activities: Dolphin boat trip, excursion to Sandwich Harbour Nature Reserve, dune quad biking, sand boarding, sea kayaking or a tour to see the amazing desert dwellers "Litte Five" who have perfectly adapted to the difficult living conditions. Lunch and dinner can be enjoyed at a café or restaurant overlooking the sea. 2 nights accommodation with breakfast at Swakopmund Strand Hotel in the "Luxury Room".
Activities included: - Catamaran boat trip combined with a four-wheel drive tour in the dunes of Sandwich Harbour. (full day) - 90-minute quad bike tour
Day 3 and 4 - Namib Desert: Swakopmund - Sossusvlei 350km (driving time approx. 5 to 6 hours). After breakfast, drive towards Solitaire and continue via the wild Gaub and Kuiseb gorges to Sossusvlei. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view from the terrace of your lodge or relax by the hotel pool. Wake up early and experience the fascination of the Namib Desert with your guide. You have the whole day to explore this spectacular landscape and its highlights: Sossusvlei, Dead Vlei, Dune 45, Big Daddy, Elim Dune and the Sesriem Canyon. Return to the lodge for lunch. Alternatively, you can enjoy a lunch box in the dunes. Then return to the lodge in the late afternoon for a well-deserved break. Optional additional activities: Guided Sossusvlei excursion, hot air balloon safari, nature drives. 2 nights half board accommodation at Desert Homestead Lodge.

Day 5 and 6 - Naankuse Game Reserve: Sossusvlei - Windhoek 440km (approx. 5 to 6 hours) In the morning you drive to Windhoek and on to Naankuse Lodge. Here your guide will bid farewell to you. 2 nights full board at Naankuse Lodge and 1 activity per person per day. Naankuse Lodge consists of exceptionally beautiful, spacious and stylish bungalows and villas scattered around the extensive grounds. The lodge is the headquarters of the Naankuse Foundation. This foundation aims to support the San people in the region with a clinic and a school and to save endangered animal species in Namibia from extinction. You will get to know a variety of endangered animal species of Namibia at the lodge. These include cheetahs, jackals, caracals and hyenas, to name but a few. You will experience these and many others in the conservation centre at the lodge as well as in the extensive area where the animals are released back into the wild. You will also see big game such as elephants, rhinos, leopards and giraffes on the gamedrives.
Day 7 - Windhoek After breakfast transfer to the airport for Windhoek or individual extension.
This trip can be ideally combined with an extension stay e.g. in the Etosha Pan or in the malaria-free, South African Madikwe Game Reserve.
